In 2007-2008 Brady Smith, aka - The DIY Hunter, was actively working on a ultra-light single cart to assist him in his solo back country archery elk hunts. In 2008 he was using his first working prototype Pack Wheel to help with his solo elk and mule deer hunts. In October of 2009 the first prototype was used to haul a bull elk off the mountain. In 2011 Brady had a lighter, aluminum prototype. He used this lighter prototype on a couple hunts and to haul a camp in, and a mule deer back off the mountain.

After a few more modifications to the design, in 2012 with the help of family and a good friend, Brady launched selling Pack Wheels. Since then he and his family business have continued to add different wheel sizes, frame options and improvements to the design.
