Ditch the Wire Mud Guard and Get the New Mud Cutter
New Mud Cutter Guards: Solving One of PackWheel’s Biggest Reliability Challenges
If you’ve ever driven a PackWheel through heavy mud, you know how quickly it can turn a good day into a frustrating one.
Mud doesn’t just stick to the tire. It builds up. Add wet leaves, sticks, and small rocks, and the tire can quickly become a rolling debris magnet. As that buildup increases, mud and debris can be forced into the chain area, potentially causing the chain to derail. In extreme conditions, the tire can become so clogged that it stops rotating altogether.
The original crossed-wire setup helped reduce this problem, but it was never a complete solution. We’ve been working on something better, and it’s finally here.
Introducing the Mud Cutter Guards
The new Mud Cutter guards replace the original crossed wires and help prevent mud, sticks, leaves, and rocks from reaching the chain and tire interface.
By creating a physical barrier around this critical area, the guards dramatically improve reliability in wet, muddy, and debris-filled conditions.
The Mud Cutter guards mount directly to the handlebar uprights and are compatible with all Gen 3 and Gen 4 PackWheels. Once installed, they should be adjusted to sit approximately 1/4 inch from the tire.
The guards can be moved out of the way when travelling through dry terrain, although once they are properly adjusted, there is rarely a reason to reposition them.
Coming Soon to PackWheel PRO Packages
Mud-related chain issues have been one of the biggest reliability challenges we’ve encountered over the years. That’s why the Mud Cutter guards are now available as an accessory and will soon be included with all PackWheel PRO packages.
For hunters and outdoor users who regularly travel through muddy terrain, the Mud Cutter is a simple, durable upgrade that can make a major difference in the reliability and overall performance of your PackWheel.
